August Block of the Month Skill Builder: Mock Cable

Building Blocks is a series of 12 fun patterns that will build your knitting skills. Starting with simple knit and purl stitches, your confidence will grow as your progress through several major knitting principles. Each block focuses on a new stitch and technique in sequential fashion that “builds” upon the previously learned skill. At the end of the series, you will be rewarded with an abundance of knitting knowledge and 12 beautiful squares to assemble (another great technique) into an afghan. You’ll learn: how to read a pattern and charts, basic increases and decreases, lace, cables, left and right twists, slipped stitches, center double decreases, where to place markers and what they are, how to identify and fix mistakes and a new confidence in your knitting. Maximum: 6 students.  One session workshop $10. (Pay as you go.  Offered the second Saturday of each month.)

Skill Level:  Beginner
Materials Needed:  Worsted weight yarn, US 7 needles, "Building Blocks" book
